Useful Information for Parents
  • School hours

    Nursery (Morning) – 8.45am to 11.45am                    Nursery (Afternoon) – 12.30pm to 3.30pm

    Reception to Year 2 – 8.55am to 3.15pm

    – Doors to the year groups and classrooms open at 8.45am  allowing children to come inside and settle in. The doors  will be closed at 8.55am and all Reception to Year 2 children are expected to be in class by 8.55am.  Please make sure you don’t leave  your child/ren  unsupervised in and around the school community before 8.45am.
    – All younger children must be dropped off and collected from school by a responsible adult. If someone other than a designated parent/carer is responsible for dropping and collecting your child, please let the school know in advance. 

    –  Children will have lunch from 12noon to 1.10pm. All infant children will have a free school dinner from our new kitchen. In September we ask that no packed lunches are sent in for infant children.

    – The school day will end at 3.15pm. Please make arrangements to collect your child at the new earlier time of 3.15pm from 3rd September.

    Year 3 to Year 6 – 8.55am to 3.30pm

    – Children in Year 5 & 6 may arrive/leave school by themselves unless other arrangements are made in advance.
    – All younger children must be dropped off and collected from school by a responsible adult. If someone other than a designated parent/carer is responsible for dropping and collecting your child, please let the school know in advance. 
    – If you are collecting your child from school please be on time, our gates open at 3.15pm. 

  • Reporting absences
    – 
    If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, you must call the school, preferably before 9am. If your child’s absence lasts for more than one day, you still need to call us every day to keep us updated.

    – Please remember no term time leave is allowed, please speak to someone in the school office to find out more.
  • Medication in school/returning to school after illness/injury/surgery – Please speak to our Welfare Officer to find out more.
  • ‘Name’ – Please name your child’s belongings. ie. bags, uniforms, PE kits, packed lunches, bottles etc. If you are sending forms, dinner money etc , please make sure you write your child’s full name and class  to avoid any errors when processing.
  • Uniform – We prefer all children following Alexandra Primary School uniform guide. Please visit our Uniform page for more details.
  • Communication  – We try our best to keep you up-to-date with what’s happening in school. 
    parentmail ParentMail – We send text messages with updates to  parents who are registered on ParentMail . If you have not registered yet please speak to someone in the office. You may miss something important if you don’t register.
    Weekly Newsletter from the Headteacher – issued every Friday and a copy sent home in book bags. You can also read it here on our website or collect a copy from the office.

Here are few tips: 

  • It’s a good idea to check your child’s book bag or ask your child  everyday for any letters and newsletters we may have sent. 
  • It is very important that  the school has your most  up-to-date contact  details. 
  • If you change your mobile numbers or email, update  ParentMail as soon as possible.
  • Visit the school website regularly for the latest news and updates.
